The Best Investment: A Better You by Vinnie Fisher

This is a book everyone should read. If you don’t make yourself the number one priority, then nothing else will follow, and if you ignore your needs you could hit burnout, and lose the choices of what you want for your future.

A better you will be equipped for success, meaningful relationships, and helping others. A better you opens you up to opportunities, not obstacles.

Information Product Launch Secrets:: How To Create and Sell Quality Information Products and Software then Flip Them for even Larger Profits by Paul Nagel

I liked the honesty at the start of this book. The only way the top product launchers are so successful is because of their contacts, who share their enormous email lists. Forget all their promises, stick with reality, and read this guide to making money quickly. This practical information includes a case-study where the author created a book in one day which brought in over $7000 in around a week.

Break The System: Escape the Rat Race, Start a Business, Travel the World by Grant Weherley

Having an internet connection has allowed anyone with an adventurous spirit to travel, live the life of their dreams, and support themselves in creative ways. The author supplies a step by step guide on how to grow and scale a business to make more than you earn now… while working less.

That’s a tempting offer, and one they can prove works for them. It could work for you, too – and this book shows how to start from nothing, no matter what your circumstances are.

How to Make Money With a Blog At Any Age

cooking with fresh vegetables

With every piece of information already available online, some might think it’s too hard to start your own blog. J.L. Fields didn’t let anything deter her, and decided she wanted to make a living from her new found passion after she became a vegan.

She approached her blog from her own personal experiences of gradually becoming more healthy, and felt at the age of 45 she would be sharing a new perspective. You have to find your own voice, and your unique angle, and when you post consistently you will attract those who have the same interests.

J.L. Fields shares on this interview with the How to Quit Working Show how she created her blog as a platform for coaching and writing books, to live the lifestyle she wanted:

Entrepreneurs Need to Check For Symptoms of Stress

symptoms of stress

This diagram comes from The American Institute of Stress and that link will take you to a list of 50 common signs and symptoms of stress.

When you catch these signs early you can prevent stress causing serious illnesses, which could prevent you from doing the work you love. It’s important to monitor how you feel, and when your body starts to feel tension, take time out to switch off.

Prevention is always easier, and much less painful, than trying to find a cure, which can prove elusive. Fit regular breaks into your day. Even 5 minutes every hour to do some slow stretches, and deep breathing, will benefit you enormously. Slow, deep breaths from your diaphragm will calm you down, and re-energize you.

You will find that you can think more clearly after you have taken these breaks. If you’re telling yourself you’re too busy to stop – your body will find a way to stop you – then you’ll have no choice but to make changes to your lifestyle.

It is stressful being an entrepreneur, especially when you’re starting up. There are so many balls to keep juggling in the air, but you have to learn it’s OK if you drop one sometimes. Find ways that suit you to take the pressure off, and build in relaxation to your routine, because without your health you won’t be able to follow your dreams and goals.

I recommend Linda at A-ZPoint, who uses the ZPoint Process to help you let go of everything that is causing you stress. She has a short and simple Kindle eBook which includes a recording of a full ZPoint session for only $4.99. If you listen to this every night, and dump everything that stressed you during the day, you’ll wake up with a clear mind ready to enjoy work again.

If you go to bed and can’t sleep because your problems and concerns are chasing around your head – give it a try. You’ll find your stress fades away effortlessly, and the more you use it the sooner you’ll find you’re deeply relaxed with not a care in the world. Answers to problems will come to you easily, because all your unconscious thoughts are quietened down, bringing you complete peace.

After stress stopped me in my tracks, I know that stress management is my biggest priority, and now I’m much calmer and able to cope with everything life throws my way. I would like you to feel this good before stress takes hold – you will be amazed how much it’s possible to change your life for the better.

When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot become manifest, strength cannot be exerted, wealth is useless, and reason is powerless.

Constant Struggle Does Not Lead to Success

businessmen in race

If you think being an entrepreneur means you have to constantly struggle, and fight one race after another – you’d better give up now.

You won’t reach your goal any faster, and battling every day causes more businesses to fail, simply because it’s impossible to maintain that level of effort.

You will see quotes like:

I’ve found I’m never more alive than when I’m pushing and I’m in pain, struggling for high achievement

– Dean Karnazes

To consistently push yourself to be in pain is living with enormous stress, and asking for a heart attack. Nobody can work like that, be happy and healthy, and have a contented home life balance.

It’s considered macho by some to be seen to be always busy and striving. I can promise you that people who act like that are less productive, and less creative. You can’t come up with fresh ideas, and the right solutions, when your mind is crammed full of things that should have been done an hour ago.

Until you know how to stop, and still all those racing thoughts, you are missing out on the secrets to true success that people like Richard Branson have cultivated. He knows that taking time out to have fun, and find enjoyable ways to run his businesses, adds more to his profits than running round like you’re on fire ever will.

When you’re always on the go, you miss more than you will ever find. Being able to notice, and appreciate the simplest things that are in front of you, right now, will change your perspective, and bring amazing results.

Stretching his hand up to reach the stars, too often man forgets the flowers at his feet.

– Jeremy Bentham

Putting yourself under pressure is risking your health, and struggling is not a badge of honor. Not only will you achieve more with a balanced approach, you will enjoy the journey so much more too.

Inspirational Way You Can Make a Difference

Watch this video, then share it with everyone you know. The Urban Farming Guys are rare on so many levels. Firstly, they’re brave enough to go into the neighborhoods that are desperate for support, and they stay there – despite the thefts, the fires, the gunshots, the murders – everything the majority run away from, and ignore.

The transformations they create are life changing. Restoring hope to those who have none is the best result anyone could aim for. Growing healthy food free from the domination of Monsanto is an extremely valuable lesson.

I hope this video encourages you to look for ways you can make a difference where you live. Please donate, and know that a life filled with hope rewards everyone:

If You Want To Achieve More – Stop Being Busy!

overwhelmed entrepreneur

I joined a large national company as a young trainee, and I worked extremely hard to prove myself. When I became assistant manager, I also covered for the manager when he was on holiday, insisting I didn’t need a replacement. Not only would I do 2 stressful jobs with long hours for 2 weeks at a time, I also looked for extra tasks to complete.

I was so driven, and so wrapped up in being seen to be the best in the country (which I was), that I ultimately hit the brick wall where I physically couldn’t get out of bed, never mind work. Winning competitions, including those I created for myself, were meaningless without being fit and healthy.

Now I tell everyone to stop, and breathe. If more people made regular stops during their day, they would be able to let go of stress as it happens, instead of leaving it to build up. You can’t ignore stress – it doesn’t let you.

There have been many scientific studies of the brain, and it shows changes even for your thoughts and feelings. The brain simply can’t cope with constantly being busy, it will become overwhelmed and shut your body down. It needs time to rest, recuperate, and restore itself in order to perform optimally.

This post shows how to manage your stress for success – choose to deal with stress now, before your choices are taken away.

Read the excellent post by Jessica Stillman below, which includes this quote from a Scientific American article “Why Your Brain Needs More Downtime.”:

Many important mental processes seem to require what we call downtime and other forms of rest during the day. Downtime replenishes the brain’s stores of attention and motivation, encourages productivity and creativity, and is essential to both achieve our highest levels of performance and simply form stable memories in everyday life.

How To Give To Receive Abundance

This inspirational video of Pavi Mehta will change the way you look at life, and the way you run your business.

The Karma Kitchen is an example of volunteers running a restaurant where everything is free. It works on the principle of ‘paying it forward’, and you’re free to donate whatever amount you choose to pay for the next diner.

When you learn how to give before you think about receiving, you are operating from a place of love where caring for the needs of others always comes first. This creates new thought patterns, and as you can see from the stories on the video – you can change the lives of your community, your country – the world.

Take one small step towards improving the day for someone else – a simple smile can save a life. Your rewards will be immeasurable, and you will feel a deep sense of contentment that money can’t buy.

How To Be A Balanced Entrepreneur By The Dalai Lama

Meditating

These views of the Dalai Lama describe where so many go wrong, and if you take note you could take avoidance measures, and plan a balanced life instead.

You don’t have to become a Buddhist to change old habits and learn how to create balance. But it’s essential that you take steps to prevent the Dalai Lama’s observations from coming true for you.

Man surprised me most about humanity.
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die,
and then dies having never really lived.

– Dalai Lama XIV

There are far too many who discover too late that overwork causes health problems – and often money isn’t enough to restore your previous good health. Unless you’re fit and healthy you can’t benefit from all the opportunities that money brings, so if you find you’re looking at working overtime for the second week in a row – say “No!”

Don’t rush through your days, and miss out on the happiness that exists in the present moment. Stop, and take a deep, slow breath often to appreciate what you already have – here and now. Eat regular, unprocessed meals – not junk food snatched on the run.

When your sights are always focused ahead on your goal, you just fill your life with unnecessary stress. Keep your life stress-free, and you’ll be able to fully enjoy all the rewards that come with success.
